Romans 8:28 - NIV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

2020 was a bombshell to how we did Church. In 2021, what's the fallout?

When lockdowns began, the conversation around getting Church online was an urgent one. The questions were simple: Who? How? What? Where?

Who knows what to do? How do we do it? What do we need? Where do we post?

You'll notice I left out the 'Why?'. And why?

Because it was obvious.

Why try to connect online? Because we couldn't connect otherwise.

As the dust...

How many cameras does a church livestream need?

cameras livestream Apr 08, 2021

Well, technically... only 1.

Let’s ask a better question.

What does adding additional cameras to a Livestream achieve?

Now, that’s a better question, but one that will take more time to take apart.

Recently I asked how many Cameras different Churches used in their livestream. For context, the participants of the survey were primarily from American Churches and were engaged in worship technology Facebook groups.

Make your own conclusions, but it is interesting to see the landscape of Church live streams.

As someone who has worked as a professional...

Why Quality Matters

Why does QUALITY Matter?

When you first started streaming, quality might have looked like trying to get an image that wasn't flickering with acceptable audio.

Many video professionals and Youtube gurus are always pushing for 'cinematic visuals'. This group is wrapped up in a specific visual aesthetic.

The desire to improve seems natural. But why?

That's the question I'm passionate about. In fact, there's a whole section in the Church Livestream Level Up course about quality: what it looks like, why it matters, and why it's achievable at ANY level. This...

What is a Hybrid Service?

How do you define a hybrid service? Getting the answer to this question was vital to us when we created the Church Livestream Level Up course.

After interviewing over 200 Churches during and after COVID lockdowns, we found that creating a hybrid service wasn't just vital to serving the church during restrictions.

It's vital long-term. God has taken many Churches through a one-way door into the digital age.

"If there were church livestreams before COVID, why does it seem like a hybrid service is a new term?"

Church Trends In A Post Pandemic World

I was inspired to write this blog post after reading  latest yearly list of Church trends. In this post, I am going to reflect on a few of his trends while adding one of my own.

To state the obvious, COVID has made some changes to Church.

...I probably didn't need to reiterate that. HOWEVER, to add nuance, it seems that COVID hasn't created a paradigm shift... it has only accelerated the changes which have been bubbling over for years.

Cinema attendance was already declining... now megaplexes might be on their death bed as 4K TVs become...

Is THIS the new go-to church streaming solution?

Last week, Blackmagic Design announced a new product: The ATEM mini Extreme.

Does anyone else love how they name their products?

Many members of the Church Livestream Level Up course use the ATEM Mini Pro as the centre of their streaming kit. In fact, it's been my go-to recommendation for churches looking to upgrade their stream.

So... is the upgrade worth looking at?

In this video, I break down the game-changing new features and share a nuanced view over whether this could be for you.

The triple threat: b-roll, stock footage and sound effects!

Hey Team! I was inspired to make a quick tutorial for the group. Although we are shooting a full course on how to 'Level up your Church Livestream', this teaching opportunity was too good to pass up!

I was commissioned to work on a pilot episode for a web series the Bible Society has in the works.

Thanks to BSA for letting me show you some unreleased clips that perfectly illustrate how a little bit of sound design, music, b-roll or stock footage can elevate pre-recorded church segments.
